Erick Herzberg- Head Girls Basketball

Coach Hersh is in his first year as the head varsity girls basketball coach. Previous to this, Coach Hersh coached boys basketball for 13 years, with 8 years being at the high school level. He began his high school coaching at his alma mater, St. Charles High School. As a head freshman coach at St. Charles, Coach Hersh was fortunate enough to win the District 10 Coaches Association Award. To receive this award, you must win 70% of your games. He moved on from St. Charles to become the head JV coach at Watkins Memorial, then on to Franklin Heights where he served as assistant varsity coach and head JV coach.

At Franklin Heights, Coach Hersh helped to turn the boys basketball program around. The coaching staff took a near winless program, to a winning program in 4 years. Coach Hersh ran the defense for the program, which ranked number one in points scored against in the OCC Capital. As the head JV coach, Coach took teams that he inherited with freshman records of 1-19 and 2-18, and in just one year, produced winning records of 11-9 and 13-9.

In addition to coaching the girls basketball team, Coach Hersh works as an instructional assistant at Linden McKinley High School. He handles the PEAK and VCAP programs at Linden. He obtained his bachelor degree in History from Ohio State, and after completing the Bachelor Plus program at Ashland University, he is certified to teach 7-12 Social Studies. Coach Hersh lives in Pickerington with his two children, Alex and Sarah, and his fiancé, Kathy.
